Apple Event 2018 | Recap

Apple just wrapped up their latest Apple Event 2018 from their new Steve Jobs Theater. This event had some serious hype as the consumers were ready for the new iPhones. This year didn’t disappoint as Apple has announced 3 new models to add their iPhone line. Here is the rundown on everything that was announced today:


  • All-New Design. Apple has created a new edge to edge display for the Apple Watch Series 4.
  • Two new sizes. Apple has increased the 38mm model to 40mm and the 42mm to 44mm.
  • A redesigned Digital Crown. You will be able to feel better feedback as you navigate through your Apple Watch.
  • New Processor, Apple S4 which is a 64-bit Dual-Core processor to improve the speed of your Apple Watch.
  • WatchOS 5 takes advantage of the new sizes to display more information on your watch face.
  • GPS and Cellular available for both models.
  • New watch faces.
  • Breath App has been re-design. You’re able to use it as a watch face.
  • New motion wallpaper watch faces.
  • 50% louder due to the new speaker design.
  • Apple Watch Series 4 comes equipped with fall detection. Which brings up an option to reach out for help and send your location to your loved ones if you have a serious accident.
  • Improved Cellular reception.
  • Improved Heart monitor. Apple Watch Series 4 will alert you if you have Low Heart Rate and Irregular heartbeat. You will also be able to do an Electrocardiogram.
  • All-Day Battery Life.
  • Swim-proof.
  • Available to preorder on 9/14 and will be available on 9/21.
  • Series 4 with GPS & Cellular starts at $499.
  • Series 4 with GPS only starts at $399.
  • Series 3 will start at $279.


iPhone XS & iPhone XS MAX

  • iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch bezel-less display with notch on top for Face ID.
  • Phone XS Max has a 6.5-inch bezel-less display. With notch on top for Face ID.
  • New Super Retina OLED display.
  • Improved Scratch resistance.
  • Dual Sim Card (allows you to have 2 phone numbers under one iPhone).
  • No Home Button.
  • Still supports Lightning cable.
  • Comes in Space Gray, Silver and Gold finishes.
  • Running on Apple’s new processor, A12 Bionic.
  • 50% faster and improved performance from iPhone X.
  • Improved Augmented Reality for better apps.
  • Improved Face ID.
  • Supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 so you’re able to watch 4K content on either phone.
  • Improved 12MP Dual Cameras with dual optical image stabilization.
  • Smart HDR (High Dynamic Range) to improve photos.
  • New Depth control function on photos.
  • Four built-in mics for better sound quality.
  • Water and dust proof. *Can withstand water that is 2 meters up to 30 minutes.
  • Redesigned stereo speakers to offer better audio.
  • Comes in three Storage options: 64GB, 256GB, 512GB.
  • Available to Pre-order on 9/14 and will be available on 9/21.
  • iPhone XS starts off at $999 or $49.91/month & iPhone XS Max starts off at $1099 or $54.08/month.  Overall, the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max improve upon the iPhone X with its hardware and will take advantage of iOS12. If you already have an iPhone X, we feel that you don’t need to upgrade. You will be better off waiting for the next generation iPhone.


iPhone XR

  • Replaces the iPhone X at an affordable price.
  • Liquid Retina Display. Apple states this is the most advanced LCD in the industry.
  • TrueTone
  • Aluminum design.
  • No physical home button, will you face ID to unlock.
  • 6.1-inch bezel-less display with notch for Face ID.
  • Comes in six colors: Black, Coral, Blue, White, Yellow, Red.
  • Wireless charging.
  • Running on Apple’s new processor, A12 Bionic.
  • 12MP Wide-Angle Camera (a single camera instead of a dual camera like iPhone XS).
  • 7MP TrueDepth Camera (Portrait Mode selfies).
  • 4k recording up to 60 fps.
  • Depth control on photos.
  • No 3D touch. Instead has “Haptic Touch
  • Tap to unlock.
  • Smart HDR (High Dynamic Range) to improve photos.
  • Waterproof and dust proof.
  • improved Augmented Reality for better apps.

  • Available to pre-order 10/19 and will be available on 10/26
  • iPhone XR starts off at $749 or $37.41/monthThe iPhone XR is perfect for the consumers who would like to join the iPhone X world at a much lower price.


Other items that were revealed:

iOS 12 will be available to download on September 17th
WatchOS5 will be available to download on September 17th
MacOS Mojave will be available to download on September 24th

Overall, I feel that Apple Event 2018 delivered a solid conference. There were no updates for the iPad or iPad pro. No new hardware for the MacBook or iMac line. The AirPower wireless charging mat was a no-show as well. What are you looking forward to the most? Let us know in the comments below?
