Alfa Romeo

When I first saw this beautiful car I didn’t know what to think of it. Not to mention when we went to visit our local Maserati Dealership that Alfa Romeo was also in-house. We wanted to learn more about this brand and thanks to Tom, we were able to get some hands-on time with them.

Fun Fact: Alfa Romeo is under the same FCA Italy and FCA US tree as Maserati, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram & Fiat.

I was blown away when I found out about this. Alfa Romeo has been around for quite some time, since 1910. Alfa stands for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili. The logo is very interesting and has a story behind each side. The right side contains giant serpent/dragon gobbling up a red man, is the symbol of the influential Visconti family of 11th century Milan.

The image is known as a Biscione and has become a symbol for Milan. The crown is supposedly from when Visconti’s became dukes in the 15th century. The left side of the emblem is a red cross over a white background–a medieval Christian symbol. During the Crusades, Milanese soldiers associated with Giovanni of Rho donned a red cross and white undergarments beneath their armor. Giovanni of Rho is known for leading an army to the Holy Land and for erecting a cross on the walls of Jerusalem during the first crusade.

In 1918, The company was bought out by Nicola Romeo who turned it to Alfa Romeo.

We had the opportunity test drive the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio and it was a welcoming experience. It has many takeaways from the leather steering wheel and seats to the metal pedals. Everything felt premium for an affordable SUV. The interior was just as immaculate as the exterior. Inside you will find an 8.8 widescreen display which I couldn’t keep my eyes off of. The display is controlled by its Central Display Rotary Controller. While I’m used to touch-screen monitors, this wasn’t a bad practice with navigating. I thought the best feature was DNA function which controls helps controls the way you drive in different road conditions. It was next level!

It was not as powerful as the 2017 Maserati Levante that we test drove but it’s still a great option out there. I would recommend this awesome vehicle to everyone as it’s a great all around SUV. Size wise, you will not be disappointed as the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stevio has a great amount of space from the front to the back of the vehicle. For a consumer who has kids or just wants to pack up some friends, you are guaranteed to be comfortable on your next adventure.
